In 1952, Alvar Aalto designed the Ceiling lamp A110, which was given the nickname ‘Hand Grenade'. The lamp, a clean design with two cylinders, is made out of painted aluminium with a ring in polished messing or a painted ring. Thanks to the narrow shape, the Ceiling lamp A110 is perfect to hang grouped or in a row above a table or bar. The A110 was designed for Aalto's Finnish Engineers' Association building 1948 - 53. The same model was also used in the Council Chamber of Säynätsalo Town Hall (Alvar Aalto 1949-1952).
