Claesson Koivisto Rune's Getaway
Nestled in the tranquil landscapes of Borås, Sweden, the Getaway residence, designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune, stands as a testament to the seamless integration of Scandinavian design and nature. Owners Anna and Patrik Johäll envisioned a unique retreat, a "low-maintenance 'treehouse'" with a minimal footprint, offering the luxury of a getaway without ever leaving home. "Our idea was to recreate the feeling of staying at a fantastic hotel but within the comfort of our own home," explains Patrik.

The Getaway comprises four distinct, cube-shaped structures: the main house, an annex, a sauna, and a garage. Each building is strategically positioned within the landscape, demonstrating a deep respect for the environment and a commitment to sustainable living.
Claesson Koivisto Rune's architectural philosophy shines through in the Getaway's design. The buildings don't intrude upon the landscape; instead, they become a part of it. Minimalism and sustainability are at the heart of the project, with every detail meticulously considered for both aesthetic refinement and functional purpose.

"The Getaway is more than just a home; it's an immersive experience, a sanctuary where nature's beauty takes center stage."
For the Johäll family, the Getaway fosters a profound connection with nature. The lines between indoors and out blur, creating a dynamic living experience. "The placement of the buildings, the choice of materials, and the interiors all blur the line between inside and out," Patrik shares. "Each season and weather condition brings its own unique atmosphere. While a sunny day with reflections of the water on the ceiling and incredible light is beautiful, fall storms, rain, snow, and fog are just as mesmerizing. It’s like sitting in the front row of nature’s ever-changing show.”
