The S 33 chair made a significant impact at the Werkbund exhibit at the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart. Beginning in 1925, Mart Stam experimented with small diameter gas pipes, initially connecting them with standard plumber's fittings. He then advanced this concept by creating cantilevered chairs that no longer required four legs, establishing a foundational principle in modern furniture design with its minimalist aesthetic. Stam's S 33 chair transcended mere functional interior design objects; it embodied a revolutionary approach to architecture and lifestyle.
